MiniBox Pro Respawn Mode

Hello Ares Alpha Team,

I would like to suggest an additional option for the MiniBox Pro Respawn Mode.

The current implementation, where the respawn timer starts automatically at fixed intervals and all eliminated players return to the game when the countdown expires, works very well for larger games and organized events.

However, for smaller games and local fields, it would be very useful to have an alternative trigger mode.

Suggestion:
Instead of starting the respawn countdown automatically, allow the first eliminated player to start the respawn timer by presenting their RFID chip to the MiniBox Pro.

Example:

  • Player A is eliminated.
  • Player A arrives at the respawn point and scans their RFID chip.
  • The respawn countdown (30s, 60s, 120s, etc.) starts.
  • Any additional eliminated players arriving during this countdown join the same respawn wave.
  • When the timer reaches zero, all players waiting at the respawn point can re-enter the game.

Benefits:

  • More realistic and dynamic gameplay for small and medium-sized games.
  • Eliminates unnecessary waiting when no players are currently eliminated.
  • Preserves the tactical advantage of wave respawns.
  • Creates a true "respawn station" experience.
  • Adds significant value to MiniBox Pro as a dedicated respawn management device.

I believe this feature would be a strong selling point for many airsoft fields that want professional respawn management without requiring additional equipment or complex game administration.

That sounds like an interesting idea, thank you.

We'll give it some thought. At the moment, the only downside I can see is that, during the respawn wave, nothing would prevent a player from intentionally scanning the RFID tag just to start the countdown. However, I suppose that could be mitigated by adding a short cooldown period.

Thank you for the feedback. I think there may be a small misunderstanding regarding the proposed logic, so I would like to clarify the idea.

The RFID reader should only be able to start the respawn countdown when no respawn wave is currently active.

Once the first eliminated player scans the RFID chip and the countdown starts, any additional RFID scans during the active countdown should simply be ignored. They should not restart, extend or trigger another countdown.

When the timer reaches zero, the MiniBox Pro would return to standby mode and wait for the next activation.

This also follows your existing logic of keeping the number of RFID chips in the game to a minimum. The intention is not for every player to carry an individual RFID chip.

Instead, each faction’s respawn station could have one dedicated faction-specific RFID chip physically attached to the station. The first eliminated player arriving at the respawn point would use that station chip to start the respawn countdown.

The RFID chip would therefore not be used to identify or register individual players. It would simply function as a controlled trigger for the respawn station.

The system would have two simple states:

Standby mode: the station RFID chip can start the countdown.

Active countdown mode: all additional RFID scans are ignored until the timer reaches zero.

After the countdown ends, the device returns to standby mode and can be activated again for the next respawn wave.

With this setup, only a few dedicated station chips would be required, rather than individual chips for all players. A separate cooldown period may therefore not even be necessary, because the device would accept only one activation during each respawn cycle.
