Join Game Without Camera?
Currently it appears the only way to join an Event as a player is with their camera and a QR code. If I send a link or QR code to a player by email, they have no way of using either to join a game in the app. Is this correct?
Not quite 🙂 You can share the invitation code directly from the app, for example via WhatsApp.
The other player just needs to open the link, and they’ll join the game automatically if Ares Alpha is installed on their phone.
When on my phone if I click on an Event link sent via email, the link opens on the Ares Alpha website in my phone's browser, not in the app. The link opens in a browser both when the app is already opened and if it is closed.
Be sure you're sharing the right QR code! The one you can find on the web: gameplay, my events, share is a QR code for viewing the game, not for joining! As the admin said, you as a GM need to open your app, join your own game as a GM and then you can invite other players by either letting them scan your QR code or you click on the button "share invitation link" below the QR code.
